Teacher profile: Maria Grazia Serafini

Hello, we are Maria Grazia and Claudio and we are pleased to host students from all over the world since 2005.

17th September 2018 — Claudio works as a programmer at an important insurance company, while I, Maria Grazia, take care of the house, cook and teach students. We are a sporty couple and in our free time we enjoy running, hiking in the mountains, swimming. We do like music and art in general and during the year we go to classical and pop-rock concerts and visit art exhibitions, fairs and handmade workshops. We are two curious people, always eager to discover new and stimulating places!

We live in a large detached house surrounded by a beautiful garden cared for by Claudio. Our town Spinea can offer some amenities like a large park, a stocked library, shops and family-run restaurants. It is very well connected to Venice city centre in about 20 mins by both trains and buses so it is easy to reach also Venice surroundings by public transportation from our place. Veneto, our region is full of interesting places to visit like Treviso, Padova, Verona, Vicenza, Garda Lake, Bassano del Grappa, Asolo and the Dolomites. Nature and art are deeply connected in the beauty of our landscape.

I really love teaching Italian to students of all ages and levels, because it allows me to transmit my knowledge and at the same time get in touch with distant cultures and countries. In this way I believe that teaching is a way to enrich oneself with new perspectives and it's a continuous exchange.

Each student has different ideas and abilities and comes from a different background so each lesson is different from the others, it is therefore impossible to get bored with this job!

Students will be welcomed in a very friendly environment and will learn Italian and Italian culture in a funny and relaxed way, without forgetting that commitment and study are basic building blocks of learning.
